The ProSport team recently partnered with the LifeChanger Foundation on their inaugural LifeChanger Challenge.
The LCC#1 saw twenty-one change-makers hike Tasmania’s South Coast Track - one of Australia’s most isolated and challenging treks. Spanning 89 kms of wild untouched wilderness, remote beaches, pristine rivers and towering rainforests, the LifeChanger crew finished it in a cracking time of 4.5 days while most do it in 7!
The crew was led by Seven Summits Adventurer, Mark George and included six-time Iron Man Champion – Trevor Hendy, ex NRL Champion – Robbie Kearns and Iron Woman/SUP Champion – Karla Gilbert. But even with the collective might of this crew it seems the conditions on the South Coast Track proved to be an extreme challenge!
“If it weren’t for our training sessions at ProSport I’m not sure we would have seen every person cross the line,” said LifeChanger Founder Scott Watters. “It was a remarkable achievement by everyone involved and most importantly raised funds for our work with Aussie kids.”
LifeChanger’s mission is to create a generational shift in society, providing every adolescent the opportunity to develop a positive personal identity and empowering them to live their best life. It’s an immense goal but with Aussie kids facing rising statistics around youth suicide, self-harm, gambling, substance abuse and poor mental health, the change needs to happen now.
Funding for the Foundation’s programs is raised primarily through the LifeChanger Challenge Series of extreme adventures and ProSport were delighted to support the first challenge by providing a six-week training program including twice weekly Altitude Chamber sessions and ice baths.
The good news is there are more LifeChanger Challenges to come with three planned in 2018. The series kicks off in WA with the Cape to Cape walk – a stunning 135km coastal trek which promises the LCC trademark; a personal journey, new connections and the opportunity to help young people.
