Combat those Winter Blues

Can you believe we are already half way through May and rocketing towards Winter.?

Typically this leads to a few scenarios. We lose motivation, the sniffles come into play, its cold outside and a hell of a lot harder to get up in the mornings.

There are a few key points to remember as the nights are darker, weather colder and your personal drive is lower.

#1 Consistency is key:

Put a plan into place each week. Book your sessions in advance on a Sunday night and lock into your sessions for the week ahead. Commit to coming to the sessions you have booked in to and enlist a training buddy if necessary, whether this is a friend new to ProSport to bring along to class with you or one of your fellow ProSport members. Enlist us trainers! We are here to help you so let us know your goals, let us help you and make a commitment to your training buddy to help keep you accountable.

#2 Focus on an event:

There are loads of events throughout Winter and Spring - think of something different and challenging...if you are a runner, why not look at some of the trail running series, if you are wanting something to challenge the whole body, how about a Tough Mudder or a Spartan Race. Try a hike or a cycling race. We live in an active city, get out there and try new things. Still finding the motivation hard through Melbourne's Winter...then book an escape to Bali, escape the cold and jump onboard our bootcamp in August!

#3 Load up on fruit and veg:

Keep colds and flus at bay with loads of leafy green vegetables, fruit such as oranges for vitamin C and berries for antioxidants. It can be tempting to try and load up on warm comfort food over Winter but this will pack on the weight, making you more tired, lethargic and unmotivated. Keep it fresh, simple and tasty!
